Woodkraft of Dalton
Both of us are recently retired and decided to venture into creating projects we enjoy and are passionate about. I have always enjoyed woodworking and expanded into CNC engraving a couple of years ago. My wife recently started to create handmade note & greeting cards to send to the veterens at the local VA hospital. We have decided to share these passions with others so they can be appreciated.
What started out as a passion project to send hand colored, hand written notes to the veterens in the local VA hospital has blossomed to include other recipients as well.
Here are some samples of her work.
up in the mid-fifties and sixties with a dad and uncles that fought in WW II and
Korea along with a favorite cousin that was in Viet Nam, I learned very early
the sacrifice that our service men and women give for our country. As a tribute to them and our son that is a Staff Sargeant
in the Army, I wanted to come up with a way to pay my respect and gratitude for
their patriotism. Since I love to do
crafting and sending cards, I soon thought of a way to achieve my goal. Make cards for our service men and women in
VA hospitals, nursing homes and group homes.
Everyone enjoys receiving a card.
It is one way we know we are important and valued by others. It is an expression of love and gratitude when
you receive one. What better way for me
to show my gratitude and follow, at least in some small way, what my dad taught
me as a young child.
My father was an amazing, enterprising man and liked to keep busy. One of my fond memories of him was sitting at the table with a cup of coffee, sketching his next project on paper napkin.
He designed, fabricated and sold many products throughout his lifetime, including hunting/trapping supplies, picture moldings/frames, toys, windmills and even wooden boats.
He is probably best known for his reloading tools and turkey calls.
After World War II, he created many wooden items and marketed them under Woodkraft Co. and later on through Pioneer Manufacturing.
In honor of him & his legacy, I have chosen the Woodkraft name for my shop.
